What vDefend provides
VMware vDefend applies security controls to traffic between workloads. Microsegmentation helps define which communications are permitted and reduce exposure to lateral movement.
Applicable features depend on the version, licences and architecture. Not all capabilities are assumed to be available in every deployment.
When it makes sense
When you need to separate environments and applications, review inherited rules or introduce workload traffic controls. Security is designed with infrastructure, application and operations teams.
A project with a defined scope
The project defines the inventory, required communications, proposed policies and acceptance tests. Implementation is planned in stages, with agreed change windows and rollback procedures.
Documentation, knowledge transfer and policy maintenance are defined in the proposal. Support coverage and each team’s responsibilities are explicitly agreed.
